Blue Yarn

Acrylic on canvas, a small size.  I wanted to see if I could paint something soft with a lot of detail.  I love yarn, and I have tons of it laying around the house.  This was a challenge for me as an exercise in patience and perseverence.  Since then, I have discovered that I love to paint yarn, probably because I love it so much.

I used phthalo blue for this painting with very little mixing except to darken or lighten it.  It was the exact same shade as the ball of yarn.  Beautiful.  It’s probably my favourite colour.

This was donated to a charity auction to raise money for YouFeedThem, a project that creates self-sustaining, long-term agriculture in Kenya.
